They live in a DIFFERENT WORLD
I often wonder what the world will be like when my children become adults. I remember the first cellular phone I ever saw. Actually before the cell phone, I remember the car phone that my uncle had in his Mercedes. It actually came with the car and was a part of his console. It was as large as the dialer phone we had in our house (I wonder if our students have seen a phone that dials instead of pushes?)But the cell phone was HUGE. Not only was it huge, he had to carry it around in a bag on his shoulder and he could only talk to you on it for short periods of time....my how things change. Now a phone that fits in your ear. You don't even need a receiver.....you just talk....and all of kids know about them. They have Ipods and view podcasts. They have their own webpages, even if they are on myspace. The text and blog....and we are not careful, we will be completely out of the loop.

I can relate to what you are saying. I can remember the days when it was hip to have a digital pager. Now that is antiquated. Educating the 21st century child is so different than before.
Pagers?!? What are those? Their cellphones vibrate or their bluetooth beeps.
in this era i think about 60%of our children have cell phones. Now everywhere u turn somebody is talking to someone.Soon we will be able to pay our bills by cell phone and i think in some areas u can get food and drinks out of the machines with your cell phones. How much do cell phones and technology invade our private lives.soon anybody with the right device will be able to listen to all our calls. My dad once said he never wanted apager because to many people can get a hold of him now. I thought he was crazy, but nobody goes anywhere without their phone.Leave your phone at home 1 day and see if u can handle it.Bet u cant do it.
But the fact that this is a piece of technology that almost all students have or have access to, how could we use it in instruction? (By the way you can already pay your bills on your cell phone :)
