
Lead...Educate...Assess...Rejuvenate....Nurture
In the book 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey talks to teenagers about the skills they need to employ to help them be succesful. As I think about it, have we as adults, educators, mastered the skills that Sean talks to teens about as his father Steven Covey talked to adults about. Do we hold ourselves to a standard as high or higher than we hold the students. Shouldn't we be held to a higher standard. I mean it is our responsibility to teach them the way...and we all know the best teaching happens by observing the model. A novel idea leading by example. How do you get from meeting the standard to exceeding the standard? What sacrifices must be made in the process to ensure the academic success of all students? These are my thoughts. What are yours?
