LEARN

Lead...Educate...Assess...Rejuvenate....Nurture

In the book 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey talks to teenagers about the skills they need to employ to help them be succesful. As I think about it, have we as adults, educators, mastered the skills that Sean talks to teens about as his father Steven Covey talked to adults about. Do we hold ourselves to a standard as high or higher than we hold the students. Shouldn't we be held to a higher standard. I mean it is our responsibility to teach them the way...and we all know the best teaching happens by observing the model. A novel idea leading by example. How do you get from meeting the standard to exceeding the standard? What sacrifices must be made in the process to ensure the academic success of all students? These are my thoughts. What are yours?

When u are trying to teach them and be a role model for them at what point do u bring in your own personal experiences to share, letting them know u are human just like them but not wanting to reveal to much information. That line seems very thin at times, but kids can relate to u much more when then know u have been through some of the same experiences

It's not always easy to know what the fine line is. Kids needs to know that we are human, but there is also a point where we may share too much....but it's kinda like knowing if a child needs to really go to the restroom...you have to use your best professional judgment realizing you are their teacher first. Worth thinking about :)
